Computer setup guide

Use Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop. Have the clinic’s PRIMER CARING website link and WhatsApp phone ready. This pack contains a Chrome companion; it does not include a Windows installer.

1. Keep this folder in Documents

If you are still viewing a ZIP, right-click it in Downloads → Extract All… → Extract. Move the extracted PRIMER_CARING_Setup folder to Documents. It contains this guide and a folder named companion.

2. Install the Chrome companion

  1. In Chrome’s address bar, type chrome://extensions and press Enter.
  2. Switch on Developer mode at the top right.
  3. Click Load unpacked.
  4. Select Documents → PRIMER_CARING_Setup → companion, then click Select Folder. The selected folder must contain manifest.json.
  5. Check that PRIMER CARING Companion is listed and switched on.

Click Chrome’s Extensions puzzle icon and pin PRIMER CARING Companion for easy access.

3. Open the app and connect

  1. Open the PRIMER CARING website link shared by your clinic. Use the same Chrome profile where you installed the companion.
  2. In the app’s setup window, click Next to reach Step 2. If the window is closed, open Settings → Computer connection → Set up this computer.
  3. Click Copy address. Open the companion icon and paste it into App link.
  4. Click Save app link, then Copy code.
  5. Return to the app, paste the code into Setup code and click Connect.
  6. Once connected, click Next → Open WhatsApp.
  7. Scan the QR code if needed: on the clinic phone, open WhatsApp → Settings / menu → Linked devices → Link a device.
  8. When the WhatsApp chat list appears, return to the app and click Finish setup.

4. Daily reminders

Open the same app link. Enter the KK name and appointment date, paste patients, click Review & send, check the details and confirm Send reminders once.

Keep the app and WhatsApp tabs open, leave the sending chat free, keep the internet connected and the PC awake. New batch clears the KK name, date, time, patients and sending log; the template and connection stay ready. Reloading the page also clears the KK name, while preserving any restored log. Re-enter the clinic name before continuing.

Names are capitalised automatically and the default appointment phrase is bold. Check the preview and send a test to your own number first.

Use Help in the app for troubleshooting, sending statuses and privacy information. If Chrome blocks the installation on a managed PC, ask IT support.
